The mess is what makes it beautiful

It's 9:38pm on Thursday night.  I am so ready to pour myself into bed.  There are a few last minute things I have to do. Klutz is one of them.  It will be a simple task tomorrow as she is in school.  I didn't want to blog at all tonight because I have been working all day on something that I am not quite ready to share.  But yet there are these words circling my brain and I thought, why not just share those?  It doesn't have to be perfectly written out.  It doesn't have to be fully formed.  It's ok to share what's "in process".  Which appropriately, is this:
  • Creativity and being in business for yourself is messy.  I get an idea and think it's great and then the next day it's bollocks and on and on, back and forth it goes.  It begins with a spark that feels neat and tidy and ready to ship out and package.  The mistake is sending it out just at that point.  I've made it many times.
  • That messiness is what makes it great.  Without the mess, no burst of fire to burn it all down, there would be no phoenix to rise from the ashes.
  • Too often we are afraid of the mess.  We work tirelessly to try and be "not messy".  Or not only that, we strive for perfection. But it's costing us something.  That effort and energy that you are putting in to not being messy just may be robbing you of that great idea, that breakthrough moment, the life you've always wanted.
  • People will love you in your mess.  Perhaps even for your mess.  They will love you because they will see their own mess and not be so afraid anymore themselves. People will love you in your mess. I promise.
  • I'm often a mess. I teach practices for emotional well-being and I am very much well, but often a mess. You can be both.  This week has been a big mess.  In my head, in my ideas, in my work, mostly in my creativity.  I've planned out and blown up almost every idea that has come to me.  It's getting really, really good.
  • Our mess is our humanhood revealing itself to us.  We are meant to see it and experience it because we are, after all, human beings.  Or humans who are being. And it's messy stuff.
  • You can forgive yourself for your mess.  You can forgive others for theirs.
  • People will tell you not to share or talk about your mess.  Don't listen to them.
  • The mess is what makes it all beautiful.
Can't wait to share what I've been getting messy with soon.  For now, go out today and be a beautiful, incredible mess and trust that it's just your greatness wanting to pour out of you.

Happy Friday.
