Essential Oil highlight: Clary Sage

Clary Sage was one of my first "non traditional" oil encounters.  By that I mean, I had used lavender and lemon and peppermint before, but Clary Sage was not one that I was familiar with when I first began using doTERRA essential oils.  The way that I first experienced it was through using the Clary Calm roller bottle, also known as the monthly blend for women..  I remember that right around the time I began with doTERRA I was having pretty excruciating ovulation pain each month.  Sometimes I would double over in pain or feel like I couldn't move for a full 24 hours.  Within the first month of ordering my enrollment kit, I began using Clary Calm on my belly and the bottoms of my feet at night before bed.  I remember very distinctly looking at my calendar one day in the middle of my cycle and realizing that my ovulation was set to happen within the next day or two.  I began to gear up for the usual symptoms but thankfully they never came.  There was a twinge or two of course, but nothing like what I was experiencing previously.

Of course as things go, I thought well maybe I was just having a "good month"...then the next month and the next month and even the next month after that, I came to realize that things had shifted and it was very obvious what had caused it.  On top helping with my ovulation pain, I also noticed a VERY big shift in my sleep.  I was someone who normally slept pretty well from the time I go to sleep until around 3 or 4am.  Then I would wake up, my mind would go in all different directions and I would fall back asleep for maybe an hour or so before I had to get back up again. The nights that I use Clary Sage or Clary Calm blend on my feet are completely different.  Instead of waking up, I sleep right until I am ready to rise.  That is the beautiful thing about essential oils, while they help with specific symptoms that we might be experiencing at a particular time, overall they allow our bodies to be supported through those symptoms so that they can actually heal and find homeostasis.  And now even on some nights when I don't use the oils, or I am traveling without them, I am able to sleep, and to breathe through every time of the month with ease!

Here are other reasons to try Clary Sage:

Top Uses (according to The Essential Life):

Endometriosis & Breast Cancer
apply diluted to breasts or take in capsule to regulate estrogen

Parkinson's, Seizures & Convulsions
apply to back on neck to support healthy brain function

Child Birth & Low Milk Supply
apply diluted down spine or over abdomen to help bring on labor.  Apply to each breast for increased lactation.

Infertility & Prostate/Uterine Health
use in capsule or apply to abdomen and uterine reflex points

PMS & Menopause
Take in capsule or apply on abdomen or bottoms of feet

Postpartum Depression & Anxiety
Inhale/diffuse or apply to the heart area and bottoms of feet

Hot Flashes
Combine with water and a few drops of peppermint in a spray bottle and spritz on back on neck for cooling relief

Pink Eye
Apply a drop around but not in eye

Insomnia
Take under the tongue or apply to bottoms of feet. Diffuse at bedtime with bergamot

Breast Enlargement
apply diluted to each breast for natural enlargement

It also is extremely helpful in cases of high Blood Pressure

A few disclaimers::
* Be cautious of using Clary Sage when in the earlier stages of pregnancy as it can possibly be used to bring on labor for some people

* Remember that I am not a medical professional so I always recommend having a conversation with your doctor and healthcare provider when using oils.  There are so many who are open to this kind of conversation these days and remember that YOU are your best advocate!

And many of you who follow my classes over on my Facebook page One Oil at a Time, know that I am also a HUGE believer in the emotional support that these oils provide.  Clary Sage is the Oil of Clarity & Vision.  According to the book Emotions & Essential Oils:

"Clary Sage assists individuals in changing their perceptions.  It gives courage to see the truth.  One of the finest oils for the brow chakra, Clary Sage dispels darkness and illusion, helping individuals to see their limiting belief systems.  Clary Sage encourages individuals to remain open to new ideas and new perspectives.  It can assist during a healing crisis when a drastic change of perspective is required.  Clary Sage opens the soul to new possibilities and experiences"...(make sure you check out this book and all it has to say about Clary Sage)

The Positive Properties that Clary Sage helps to support are: Spiritual Clarity, intuitive, open-minded, imaginative, spiritually discerning.

It pairs beautifully with:
*Geranium
*Lavender
*Manuka
*Neroli
*Yarrow
*Ylang Ylang

Obviously I cannot recommend Clary Sage highly enough and mostly because of my own personal experience with it...which is always the best kind!  If you have any other questions feel free to shoot me an email at sara@oneOMatatime.com and I would be happy to discuss further!  And of course to shop oils head to mydoterra.com/sarapackard

Wishing you all Calm and Clarity on this beautiful day!

xoxo
